Honey Barbecue Chicken wings (Air Fryer Recipe)

Note– You can double or triple the amount of chicken wingettes and drumettes to serve more people. When you do this, you will have to use your air fryer 2 to 3 times and you don’t have to increase the amount of barbecue sauce for this recipe.

What you’ll need
2 pounds 8 chicken wingettes and 10 chicken drumettes.
Canola oil or any type of oil of your choosing
2 six-ounce cans Tomato paste (No salt added)
Vinegar
Molasses
Honey
Liquid smoke
Sugar

Seasonings
Salt
Tony Chachere’s Creole seasoning
Chef Paul’s Poultry magic
Onion powder
Garlic powder
Cayenne pepper

Preparation of ingredients
Step 1- Add Chicken wingette and drumette pieces into a strainer and rinse with cold water. Transfer chicken pieces on to chopping board and pat chicken pieces dry with napkins.

Note- You can reduce the seasoning by half if you like.
Step 2- Transfer chicken pieces into a medium sized bowl. Add 1/2 teaspoon salt, 2 teaspoons Tony Chachere’s creole seasoning, 2 teaspoons Chef Paul’s Poultry magic, 2 teaspoons onion powder, 2 teaspoons garlic powder and 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper. Coat the seasonings on to the chicken with your hands. Cover with lid and place into fridge. Let marinate for 1 hour or overnight.

Making the Barbecue sauce
Step 3- Add 1 1/8 cups Tomato paste (No salt added), 1/4 cup vinegar, 1/3 cup liquid smoke, 1/3 cup molasses, 1/4 cup honey, 1/3 cup sugar, 1 teaspoon salt and 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper into a medium sized bowl. Stir all ingredients with whisk until combined. Set aside.

Air Frying the chicken
Step 4- Add 2 teaspoons canola oil or any oil of your choosing on to your chicken. Coat chicken with the oil using your hands. Add chicken pieces into your Air fryer basket and place drawer into Air fryer. Let Air fry on 360 degrees for 15 minutes.

Step 5- Open Air fryer drawer. Transfer chicken pieces into barbecue sauce. Coat chicken pieces with barbecue sauce. Slightly shake each piece of chicken to remove any excessive barbecue sauce and place into Air fryer basket. Let air fry on 400 degrees for 5 minutes. Let cool for 2 to 5 minutes before serving.
