Add sliced cheddar cheese halves on top of each ground beef patty half. Let sit for 5 minutes.

Step 7- Cut 12 inches in length of French bread off using a serrated knife. Turn the 12 inches French bread on its side and Cut through the inside of the French bread with a serrated knife. Open the French bread with your hands.

Set your oven broiler to high.
Step 8- Melt 2 tablespoons melted salted butter in a frying pan. Brush the butter onto the insides of the French bread with a pastry brush. Place the French bread on to an 11 by 17-inch baking pan.

Step 9- Place the French bread into your oven broiler for 30 seconds. Careful not to leave it in the oven broiler more than 30 seconds as this will cause the bread to burn. Remove the French bread from the oven broiler. Let cool for 5 minutes.

Assembling the po’boy
Step 10- Generously spread mayonnaise on to the top portion of the French bread. Add a small amount of ketchup on top of the mayonnaise. Add a small amount of the shredded iceberg lettuce on top, followed by the tomato slices and the pickle slices. Add the cooked hamburger pieces on to the bottom portion of the French bread. Close both sides of the French bread together and press down on the top of the French bread down slightly. From there the po’boy is ready to be served.
